WARRAWEE NAAZIQ SECOND WIN IN THE WATHBA STUD FARM CUP

Warrawee Naaziq continues his winning streak by being first across the line in the Wathba Stud Farm Cup run on March 10th at Mansfield in Victoria.

Close on his heels was Coolinda Park Dance With Me who challenged Naaziq right to the finish line to be beaten by half a length. This was the mares first start and her Polish breeding shows that she has a big future before her.  The very talented Majelica owned by Mulawa Arabians was third.
Because of the boggy condition of the inside, the rail was out  3 metres. A full report will be posted soon.

The strong field which included Blakes Heaven Bombora and Wantley Kaliph, both trained by the young female trainer, Talea Hasko-Stewart, providedthe raceday patrons with an exciting race.

NARA would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the NARA team who were at Mansfield. Despite the oppresive heat they worked tirelessly to ensure trainers, owners and raceday patrons were well looked after. We would also like to thank the wonderful support we receivedfrom the Mansfield Community. All in all, a very successful day enjoyed by all. We would also like to thank HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyanfor his incredible support for Arabian Racing in Australia.

Australian News Hot off the Press ......

It has been brought to the attention of the National Arabian Racehorse Association that because of what has been reported as neglect, horses have had to be removed from a trainer. The team at the National Arabian Racehorse Assoc. wish to make it clear that we havea zero tolerance policy regarding neglect, cruelty etc of horses.

Trainers are reminded that they have a professional duty of care to ensure that horses in their training establishment are properly cared for. Owners are encouraged to be active in ensuring that their trainer is providing appropriate care and training for their horses.

Nara Zero Tolerance Policy For Neglect and or Cruelty Etc ...

A wonderful family day out in the magnificent Victorian high country provided the backdrop for the running of the first Wathba
Stud Farm Cup in Australia's history. This race for Purebred Arabians is designed to encourage small breeders and is generously
sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This is a world wide race series and NARA were honoured to be
awarded the opportunity to conduct two of these prestigious races, the second of which will take place on the Australia Day long
weekend, January 26th.

Mansfield is a picturesque town at the foot of the Alpine National Park and attracts a large number of tourists in the holiday
season, many of whom were present for the Mansfield Raceday. The hard working committee pulled out all the stops to make it a
great day for families, providing many attractions and competitions for the all the children present. One of the highlights of
the day was Fashions On the Field including categories for the fashion conscious youngsters amongst the crowd, who strutted the
catwalk like professionals!

Hundreds of families gathered in the shade of the many large trees that grace this historic racecourse to enjoy their picnic l
unches, moving to the rails when a race was about to start.
The Wathba Stud Farm Cup was watched with interest by spectators, many of whom were having their first experience of seeing Arabian
horses. The comments on their beauty and impeccable manners were many and they cheered as they came into the straight. It was a
thrilling finish with Warrawee Naaziq continuing his winning streak to take the Cup by a length and a half from first starter
Magelica who had the Polish stallion Major issuing a challenge down to the line as they finished a half length apart.
Blake's Heaven Bombora and Wantley Kaliph who had made the long trip from Canberra to take part, finished 4th and 5th respectively
with first starter Lord Alfred of Seven Oaks in 6th place.

The Maxisoy Track Star Award for the best conditioned horse was won by the beautifully presented mare, Magelica, owned by Mulawa
Arabian Stud. The presentation of Magelica was impeccable and attracted a lot of very positive comments from race day patrons.
Placegetters were also presented with a copy of Carmel Rowleys latest book, ‘Danika & Yatimah From Egypt to the Outback’.

The owner and trainer of Warrawee Naaziq, Kim Noble, was delighted to receive the magnificent Wathba Stud Farm Cup trophy plus
the Trainer's Trophy and Rob Kirkpatrick was awarded the special Jockey's Trophy. This race carried the very generous purse of
$5000 and NARA expects that this will go a long way towards encouraging the small owner breeder to participate in the next Wathba
Stud Farm Cup which will be held at Mansfield on the Australia Day long weekend January 26th 2013.

NARA wish to thank the owners and trainers of all the Arabians, some of whom travelled from interstate to support the race.
We cannot thank enough the incredibly friendly and hard working Mansfield Race Club committee who made the Arabians so welcome
and last but definitely not least His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, without whose generosity this wonderful race
would not have been run. Please gather your friends and family and see in the New Year at Mansfield on January 26th and
cheer the Arabians home!!

Nara Announcement...

We have booked the Merton Racecourse for the 27th April and a May date tbc. On the 27th April the first event on the
program is barrier trials where the horses will be required to jump out of the barriers and run up about 100/200m.
Later in the day we will be running a 1000m race (which will be split into two divisions depending on nominations)

for Purebred Arabians 3yrs and upward.
In addition to the normal race nominations we will accept nominations for any purebred who passed a
barrier trial earlier that day.

The same will apply to derivatives, if they pass a barrier trial they will be eligible to run in a 1000m race
for derivatives. For those who just want to take their own horse around the track to “get a feel for racing”
they will have the opportunity to do so. They will of course need to wear the required safety gear and will not be
coming out of barriers. For anyone wanting to do some barrier education they will have the opportunity to do this.

This will be a race and education day. Refreshments will be available.

For More Information please contact the Nara Team Today.

Merton Race Meet 27th April 2013 - Apology

Due to the sudden illness of our Race Director in the early hours of Saturday  morning and the subsequent unavailability of a number of family members who were volunteer Race day staff, the Race and Education Day at Merton had to be cancelled with virtually no notice.

A certain amount of confusion ensued and unfortunately a communication breakdown was the result. For this NARA apologizes unreservedly. NARA is aware that these unforeseen events have caused considerable inconvenience to participants, including racing fans.

All nomination fees and fuel costs will be refunded forthwith.  Please advise these details to gardener821@gmail.com
Once again we ask that all concerned accept NARA's heartfelt apology.

We hope that participants understand that circumstances were unexpected and out of our control.

We also send our  thoughts and well wishes to our Race Director at this time.

Please note that  this will not effect any further race days that have been put in place and once again apologize for any and all inconvenience  to our trainers, Jockeys, and race day participants.

The NARA Directors.

A small but enthusiastic crowd gathered at Merton Racecourse last Saturday.

One of our successful trainers, Anthony Mountney of ACM Equine gave a very clear and comprehensive saddling demonstration with the ever patient mare Coolinda Park Dance With Me acting as model.

We then moved down tothe starting gates to watch Anthony, helped by Brenden Milburn and Harold Bacon, teach novice mare Minton East Willows Gift how to stand quietly in the barriers and walk out calmly. Next up we watched a race between the experienced  Coolinda Park Dance With Me who won convincingly from Jupiter Samira , who was having her first start after a lengthy spell. All participants enjoyed the refreshments on offer during the day  and stayed for a Q & A session with Nara team.

Nara would like to encourage anyone interested in learning to help on race days to please contact us.We need volunteers to act as timekeepers, clerk of scales, barrier attendants, starter etc .Thanks must go to all our helpers, spectators and participants for making the day such a success. NARA was proud to have two Aussie jockeys representing NARA and Australia at the
HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan world Arabian Horse Racing Conference in Toulouse, France.

Nikita McLean, who rode the winner earlier this year in Oman,  was on the jockeys panel at
the conference and Samara Johnson rode in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World
Championship (IFAHR) race.,

Sixteen horses lined up in pouring rain on a very heavy track to run in this prestigious race.
Unfortunately Samaras horse,  who is owned by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum,  did not
like the heavy track. However Samara rode a great race and her strong riding resulted in her
finishing 6th in a very strong field. Both Samara and Nikita, together with Dannielle Daniel
who also rode in the USA race earlier this year, will go to Abu Dhabi in November for the final
of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR).

Despite the severe wintry weather two Arabians lined up for the much anticipated match race.

Warrawee Naaziq owned trained and ridden by Kim Noble from Lancefield, Victoria  and Coolinda Park Dance With Me, leased and trained by Anthony Mountney from NSW and ridden by Dani Walker,  fought a neck and neck battle for the 1200m race with Coolinda Park Dance With Me drawing away in the last 50m.

The Kilmore Turf Club is approximately 60klm from the city of Melbourne and is ranked among one of Victorias best outer metropolitan TAB racetracks.

This was the first time Arabians have raced at Kilmore Racing Club and we wish to say a huge thank you to the Kilmore Committee and officials and straff for their wonderful support and hospitality.

Exhibition Gallop at Bong Bong Picnic Race Club, Bowral, NSW 4/10/13

There was great excitement on Friday 4th October when the Melbourne Cup came to the Bong Bong Picnic Race Club in Bowral as part of it's tour around NSW. The Cup was escorted onto the race track by a contingent of Light Horse and Mounted Police.

The committee of the Race Club organized  'Horses in the Highlands' to publicize the Melbourne Cup Tour and raise funds for the National Jockeys Trust. The Girls, Girls, Girls trick riding team travelled from Heath Harris's Mt White property to thrill the crowd  with their daring show. Local polocrosse teams gave the crowd a taste of this very popular sport. Master horseman and twice winner of Equitana's Way of the Horse, Greg Powell gave an accomplished display of his training techniques. Two local Thoroughbreds who are Bong Bong Cup contenders gave onlookers an example of track work.

Anthony Mountney from Kembla Grange brought two Arabians to give an Exhibition Gallop. Coolinda Park's  lovely mare CP Dance With Me ( Walidayt x Dancing In The Dark ) ridden by Aaron Sweeney and full brother to current Arabian National Champion Stallion Aahmani, the gelding Assagai (TS Al Malik x Aliha Bint Nizr ) with Andrew Tozer up, gave the crowd a taste of Arabian racing. The announcer momentarily relived his earlier career as a racecaller with an impromptu race call, always fun at Bong Bong as they disappear behind the hill in the middle of the track!

The Race Club committee were pleased with the Arabian display and provided a stall for NARA to distribute information and the opportunity for several interviews with the announcers.  Our thanks go to the Bong Bong Picnic Race Club for their hospitality and to Anthony Mountney and his team for bringing the beautifully conditioned Arabians along.

Nara Australia would like to thank everyone that came along to support the first official of many seminars held by Nara and Anthony in the Gundagai Area.  Appearing on the day was Walidayt imp US (Ganges PASB x Weltawa PASB) having his first hit out on the track, He is the Sire of Coolinda Park Dance with Me and Coolinda Park Walencia.

Anthony Mountney, one of our most respected and successful trainers started with a run down of the gear required for racing and a summary of raceday procedure and rules. There were many questions from participants and Anthony answered each in detail.

After a delicious lunch provided by Judith Perkins, we moved outside to the tie up stalls where Anthony gave a saddling demonstration on the very good natured pure Polish stallion Walidayt (imp USA) and his lovely daughter Coolinda Park Walencia. Once saddled, Anthony on Walidayt and Samara Johnson on CP Walencia headed  off to the training track for a practice gallop.

This is the beginning of a series of seminars in all States. Trainers are reminded that attendance at least one seminar a year is compulsory. Please check the website for more dates as they come to hand.

Seminar - Education

The NARA Board would like to thank the amazing NARA Team for their assistance and hard work in making the day at Sportingbet Park in Victoria the huge success it was.  Special thanks to our stewards, Alastair Barnes, Trent Sullivan, Dorothy Hodge and Simone Feltham, to Lisa Willan for her much appreciated administration support and to our NARA photographers. The voluntary assistance from this experienced professional team continues to be invaluable.  Thank you also to the trainers, owners, strappers, jockeys and supporters, many of who travelled thousands of kilometres.

Of course the biggest thank you must go to our amazing sponsor, HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Global Purebred Arabian Flat Racing Festival and to Lara Sawaya for her tireless work in organizing this outstanding event.

NARA Board Says Thank You

Once again the speed machine Djehlbi  and fast finishing mare Keisha put in stellar performances to continue their successful recent domination of the Australian turf.

The first race on the card was the second in the global series  of the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Championship( IFAHR ), the first having been held in Oman. This €30,000 1400 metre race was contested by 8 international lady jockeys and our Australian contender Annelise King.

Fresh from her recent victory in the UAE Arabian Plate last December was Queensland mare Keisha. She is owned and trained by Jay Randle and was ridden by Swedish jockey Anna Pilroth to win by a convincing 6 lengths from the evergreen Warrawee Naaziq, who was returning to the track after a long break. Naaziq was ridden by Ireland's Nadine Forde and they were followed 3 lengths back by the very promising young gelding Coolinda Park Winston with French jockey Sandrine  Hagenbach up.

The second race was the €35,000 1300 metre Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup. Once again the imported stallion, Queensland based Djehlbi , piloted by his regular rider and part owner Isabella Teh, repeated his winning ways. He won by an impressive 15 lengths from another young Coolinda bred gelding, Coolinda Park Kazh, ridden and trained by the experienced Kim Noble. 4 lengths away in third place was NSW horse Conderosa Pegasus ridden by Daniel Edmonds.

The NARA  team are indebted to His Highness Sheikh Mansoor, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima and Ms Lara Sawaya for their continued and increasingly generous sponsorship of Australian Arabian Racing in Australia. The Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival which now spans 6 continents, continues to grow each year and now provides the most generous purses on the international Arabian racing calendar. This  prizemoney, together with the recently announced Breeders Incentive of €4,000 for the breeders of the winning horses of all 102 races in the Festival, is guaranteed to encourage breeders, owners and trainers to put more horses into race training. The future of Arabian racing looks bright indeed. For more details click on Race Results.

Seminar - Tatura

The Arabian Racing Seminar held at Tatura Park Equestrian Centre on Saturday February 7, 2015,

was one of those events that, at the end of the day,  had you walking to your car thinking

"wow, what a great day".  A really friendly group of people who really have the future of Arabian

racing as their number one goal hung on every word from the brilliant speakers.

Dr Caroline Foote from Equine Consulting Services  spoke about the dietary requirements of all

facets of the horse industry. Equine Consulting Services provides a range of nutritional services

to horse breeders, trainers and owners delivering scientifically based, nutritional advice for all

phases of horse growth, development and performance. Their clients include Godolphin, Mulawa,

leading Thoroughbred breeders and trainers, Arabian, Quarter Horse and Sport Horse enthusiasts

Dr.Foote on the feeding of racehorses was excellent and will prove invaluable to Arabian racehorse

owners and trainers.  As part of their service a Dietary Evaluation form is available on the NARA website.

Just fill it in and email it back to Dr.Foote.

Jenni Fairweather from Peak Performance Equine  has some extremely interesting and very useful

tools for the health and welfare of horses in any field. These included Transpirator Respiratory

Therapy,  Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy and Tapotement Massage. Really worth educating

yourself on the uses and benefits of these items. Jenny can be contacted on 0433 800 626.

Gaye Gauci-Marchant from Equine Goals & Dreams gave spoke about what the future holds for

the Arabian racing industry and racing across the board. Gaye outlined the training opportunities

available for people interested in coming into the Arabian Racing Industry.  Information on these

training courses are now available on the NARA website.

Kim Noble and her team did the saddling, riding and horse demonstration with Warrawee Naaziq

and  Coolinda Park Kazh, both of whom raced at Sportingbet Park on the 26th January.  Kim spoke

about the different gear that is often seen on a racehorse and their purpose. She also spoke about

the industry requirements of the riders helmet and body vest.  And of course Dozer was a hit!!!

Thank you to Carole & Shannon Hore and the Goulburn Valley Arabian Group for organizing this

event and making it the great success it was.  Thanks to the NARA team who attended the event

and who were happy to answer questions.

Of course this event would not have been complete without the attendance of Dozer, the

Arabian Racing mascot

RVL meeting. - 10-02-2015
