Once again the generosity of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Shadwell Stud,
provided racegoers with the spectacle of 12 magnificent Arabian horses galloping down the famous
Caulfield straight..What a thrill for Arabian enthusiasts to see their breed race on the home
track of the famous Caulfield Cup. Many where moved to tears.

Heartfelt thanks must go to His Highness for his continued support of Arabian racing in Australia.
NARA would like to thank all concerned with the event, Shadwell Stud, the Melbourne Racing Club,
His Excellency the UAE Ambassador Ali Nasser Al Nuaimi and the UAE Embassy in Canberra and of
course the wonderful students who ran the cultural marquee.

Thanks also to Mark Kelly, Director of Shadwell Australasia, who worked so hard with us to make
the day such a success and also Chris Kennard from Shadwell UK who made the long journey from
England to be with us.
Last but definitely not least a huge thank you to our faithful owners, breeders and trainers who
continue to travel miles with their horses, take weeks off work, and maintain their enthusiasm.
You are all champions! And as for your wonderful horses, well what can you say? If ever there
was a reason to be proud of owning an Arabian you are that reason. Congratulations to all of
you from Maureen and Virginia and the team at Nara .You deserve it.

The Nara team are extremely honoured to be able to bring this amazing event to Caulfield, and
cannot thank His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum enough for his generous
sponsorship of Arabian racing in Australia. Having this event in Australia was an incredible
dream and Shadwell have enabled this to come to fruition.

Shadwell - Nara races at the Gold Coast Turf Club Saturday 7th December
A wonderful day's racing saw trainer Anthony Mountney and jockey Dani Walker put in a stellar performance to take out first the Shadwell Arabian Plate with Coolinda Park Dance With Me followed by Alchimia in the UAE Arabian Plate . Both races were over 1400 metres and carried a generous purse of $25,000.
NARA would like to thank our sponsor His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his renowned Shadwell Stud Australasia for the continued generosity that enables Arabian racing to grow in Australia. Many thanks also to the staff and committee of the Gold Coast Turf Club who bent over backwards to make the day such a success.
The Queensland Arabian Racing Club was well represented with many of their horses
giving a good account of themselves in the placings. Thanks must also go to the
connections of the NSW and Victorian horses who travelled so far to contest the
races.
Congratulations to all participants and volunteers for a great day which was a wonderful promotion for the Australian Arabian Race Horse
Further infomration along with additioanl photos are to follow.
History was made when a large crowd including many Arabian enthusiasts, gathered at the Gold Coast Turf Club racecourse for the first Arabian races to be run at this magnificent track. Seventeen beautifully presented Arabians thrilled the crowd with two closely contested races.
The race caller gave a short history of the runners and the Arabian breed as the horses entered the mounting enclosure. The majority of the runners were having their first start but all were impeccably behaved and loaded into the barriers like professionals and I'm sure every Arabian fan swelled with pride at our breed's wonderful temperament and athleticism.
The first race was the Shadwell Arabian Plate over 1400 metres and was won by Coolinda Park Dance With Me with Conderosa Millenium Silver hot on her heels coming second by a length. River Oak Moccona was third by four and a half lengths followed by Warrawee Naaziq in fourth place.
The second race was the UAE Arabian Plate, also over 1400 metres, again an exciting finish, with Mulawa Stud's grey mare Alchimia taking the honours from the fast finishing Ausden Prince Mahal with a margin of one and three quarter lengths. Moondarra Maya was a close third with Jill Colwell's Aloha Desert Jewel a scant long head behind to take fourth place. Both these races carried the very generous prize money of $25,000.
Without the continuing support and extraordinary generosity of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Shadwell Australasia these races would not be possible. NARA was delighted to have the pleasure of the company of His Excellency Mirza Al Sayegh and Mr Masoud Saleh who travelled with a delegation from Dubai to officiate at the races. We were also happy once again to welcome Mr Mark Kelly of Shadwell Australasia and Mr Chris Kennard of Shadwell UK. All of these gentlemen have worked hard to ensure the success of the Shadwell events in Australia and we look forward to a continued close association. Mr Faisal Al Mazrouei headed a party from the UAE Embassy in Canberra and presented the trophy for the second race.
TV personality Dr Harry Cooper and Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador Rebecca Bramich were amongst the many guests present at the luncheon who also included Federal and State politicians, media representatives and local and interstate business people.
To say that Anthony Mountney, trainer of the two winning horses and Dani Walker, jockey of both, were excited, was an understatement! Congratulations to them both. I bet there was some celebrating that night! Congratulations must also go to the members of the Queensland Arabian Racing Club for gathering together such a quality field of well presented athletes. Thank you also to the connections of the interstate horses who travelled from the ACT, Victoria and NSW and far North Queensland to make the day such a resounding success . Many thanks must go to the committee and staff of the Gold Coast Turf Club for bending over backwards to make us feel so welcome.
The Cultural Marquee proved a popular meeting place with delicious Middle Eastern food supplied by Taboon Restaurant at Robina and the two ladies who provided henna tattoos did a steady trade during the day. The generous gifts supplied by Shadwell were also very well received by patrons.
All in all a great day for Arabian racing and Shadwell and we really hope this will encourage people to help us grow Arabian racing. Breeders, owners and trainers, you now have 12 months to get those horses into race training for next year's Shadwell and experience the thrill of seeing YOUR horse gallop to the finish line at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

Arabian Rainbow Competition - Australian School Incentive
Arabian Rainbow Competion for Austalian Schools:
Arabian Rainbow Competition is an exciting community art project for primary schools in association with Dubai Internatioal Arabian Races at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
Inspired by the Arabian Gulf's first public art project launched in Dubai in 2004, the competition will allow pupils to get creative and paint a life-sized sculpture of a horse using the colours of the rainbow. It also providesteachers with an opportunity to engage the pupils in discussions covering a wide range of key subjects including culture, language, geography and sport.
Participating schools will each receive a three dimensional sculpture of an Arabian horse, a leading breed in the equine world and a symbol of the UAE.
The finihed artworks will then be displayed at the Dubai International Arabian Races at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday 6th December, and teachers, pupils and their families will be invited to attend the judging and presentations and enjoy a day of Arabian and Thoroughbred racing.
The winning school will receive a cash prize of $3,000.00, $2,000.00 for second place and $1,500.00 for third place.
A wonderful incentive for Australian Schools, Dubai International Arabian Races, NARA Australia and the Gold Coast Turf Club.
